The dilapidated Fishermen’s Bazaar at the Wednesday Market has been flattened and will be replaced with a new building within four months.

Artists drawings have been revealed as to what the new building, which is located just off the main shopping district in Didim town centre, will look like.

The bazaar was first opened in 1994 and housed 12 tradesmen, including eight fishmongers and four greengrocers.

It used to be closely connected to the bustling Saturday Market venue before that was relocated to its present position several years ago.

The bazaar was finally flattened this week and small marquees have been erected to accommodate the fishermen’s produce.

Didim Mayor Deniz Atabay said: “We are making one of our promises from the local election period.

“We have taken steps for a modern, stylish looking, spacious and high-quality bazaar. We plan to complete in 3-4 months.

“We will complete the bazaar in a manner worthy of our district and tradesmen and offer it to the public as soon as possible.”
