A tender has been won by a local company for a plot of land which sits on a prime site opposite Altinkum Beach.

The area, known as the Vakiflar land and features a few abandoned buildings, stands just off Yali Caddesi and opposite Didim Shopping Centre, just a stone’s throw from the beach.

It has been reported that 13 companies initially applied for the lease tender for the General Directorate of Foundations land which is now under the government’s Department of the Treasury. As a result, on June 4, local company Necdet Yapi won the tender which runs for 21 years.

Rumours suggest a two-storey shopping mall may be built on it, but further clarification is awaited.
