Major focus on Didim’s olives: At Istanbul’s Olivia Olive Oil Fair and National Summit, held recently, the leading cities in Turkey in olive agriculture made a presentation.

The city of Didim, which has an important place in olive agriculture, became the center of attention at the fair with its olives and olive oils.

Participants were informed about the production and product quality of Didim olives and olive oils. Also, it was announced to the participants that the 5th Didim Olive Festival will be held on 8-9 October.

In attendance at the fair were Didim District Governor Dr Mustafa Yiğit, Didim Chamber of Commerce Chairman Hilmi Erbaş, Didim Chamber of Agriculture Chairman Hilmi Yıldırım, Didim City Council President Osman Ayyıldız, and Didim Tourism Association President Mustafa Şentürk.

Vegan-friendly Didim gathers admiration: Didim’s recent Vegan Festival, VegFest, has continued to attract positive comment from goers and exhbitors, fuelling hopes of a new event next year.

Organized by Didim Municipality and not held for two years due to the coronavirus, the festival was held for the fourth time in late May. Thousands of people from across Turkey and foreign tourists attended.

The festival saw a variety of vegan dishes and products sold, concerts and workshops, as well as colourful moments, including a 50-metre vegan wrap was prepared for a new world record attempt.

Excitement is now building for the next year’s event which promises to be even bigger and better than ever.

250 palm trees planted for a greener Didim: Didim Council has planted 250 palm trees on the 5-kilometre highway on Cumhuriyet Street as part of afforestation works.

Mayor Ahmet Deniz Atabay “We have completed our afforestation works on Cumhuriyet Street, which will welcome millions of local and foreign tourists coming to our district. We will continue to work to create a more livable city for both local people and foreign tourists.”
