DIDIM and Akbuk has a new police chief, Voices can reveal.

Following the retirement of Gürhan Aytekin, the new police chief has been announced as Özgür Selçuk.

Mr Selçuk has served as Didim’s deputy chief of police for the last 18 months. A 39-year-old married father of two daughters, his decision to join the police force began when his father was killed in a car accident in Istanbul in 1992.

After he graduated from the police academy, he began working in Konya, in Erzincan, in 2010. After switching to Aydin province, he was appointed to the Soke and Didim District Traffic police units.

Since January 2014, he has been deputy Didim police chief. His appointment was supported by Didim Governor Iskender Yöndem.
