Hamdi Tuncer, one of the residents of Didim Nursing Home, passed away by entrusting his beloved dog friend to Şehnaz Kasaplar.
When the benefactor Şehnaz Kasaplar from Didim went to Didim Nursing Home to work as a volunteer 4.5 years ago, she heard that Hamdi Tuncer, who lived there, was depressed. She learned from the nursing home authorities that Tuncer was depressed and worried about his dog because he missed it, who was staying in his hometown.
Kasaplar, the Aydın province representative of the United Animal Protection Foundation, had the man’s dog, Ayaz, brought to Didim from Çankırı after meeting with the governor and municipality officials. Ayaz was able to live temporarily in the garden of the nursing home.
However, after a short time, Tuncer’s health deteriorated and he was transferred to a private nursing home in his hometown, Çankırı. He had to leave again with his dog Ayaz.
Kasaplar said, “I didn’t want Hamdi Bey to worry about his dog again. He had cancer and it wouldn’t be good for him to feel sorry for Ayaz. That’s why I brought Ayaz to my garden. I’ve been looking for 4 years. I was calling Hamdi Bey to give information about his dog. Ayaz was happy to be with me.”
Kasaplar added Hamdi Bey passed away this week, but entrusted Ayaz to her.
