RUSSIA’S Krasnoyarsk State Opera and ballet and the popular Spanish dance company Los Vivancos will be the special guests of this year’s Bodrum International Ballet Festival.
Set to mark its 13th edition from July 18 through Aug. 1, the historic Bodrum Castle will be hosting five classical and modern ballet productions from Turkey and abroad in seven performances, according to the festival’s website.
The Antalya and İzmir state ballet companies will open the festival with a triple bill that combines three early 20th-century pieces — “The Firebird” and “The Rite of Spring” by Igor Stravinsky and Maurice Ravel’s “Bolero.”
The İstanbul State Opera and Ballet will stage a modern ballet production called “Gökkuşağı” (Rainbow), set to music by composers John Adams, Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto, on July 21.
The Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet will perform its ballet rendition of Bizet’s “Carmen” two nights in a row, on July 24 and 25.
The Ankara State Opera and Ballet will present its 2015 production “Hamlet,” with a score by 20th-century Georgian composer Revaz Gabichvadze, on July 28.
The seven Vivanco brothers will close the program with their show “Best of Los Vivancos,” also to be staged twice, on July 31 and Aug. 1.
All performances begin at 9:45 p.m. For further information and updates, visit www.bodrumballetfestival.gov.tr.
