A TEAM of four cycling cops will be on the beat around the Altinkum beach area this tourism season as part of a high visibility campaign and deterrent.
The team, nicknamed ‘seagulls for the ability to swoop quickly on a problem on the beach front, have been out into service to crack down on crime and combat illegal traffic on the pedestrianised area.
An Aydin police spokesman said: “The team is a first for Altinkum, but they will aim to serve the people effectively and quickly.
“They will be able to respond quickly to incidents and act as a deterrent.”
The officers will also be a high profile presence on the coastal areas as well.
Several British tourists commented on the new team, saying they were pleased that such a high profile presence was occurring on the sea front.
One said: “Let’s hope this will help bring people who are pstaying away from main Beach to come back. The police team will hopefully also combat those that are persistently trying to sell stuff on the area.”
